Community

Chrysalis is an outreach ministry of The Walk to Emmaus for teenagers and young adults who know the Lord, but want a closer relationship. 

The Chrysalis community is comprised of youth who have been through a Chrysalis walk, either here or elsewhere, and adults who have been through The Walk to Emmaus or similar Cursillo-based programs.  

Each area in the Aldersgate Emmaus community has a representative on the Emmaus Board and most areas have members of the Chrysalis Committee. Any Emmaus activities in any community are open to Chrysalis youth. Chrysalis youth have only to contact their area Board rep or committee member for information on upcoming events.  

Chrysalis youth are encouraged to participate in the Chrysalis ministry by attending “Send-offs”, “Closings” and “Candlelights” of any Chrysalis Flight, Chrysalis Journey or Emmaus weekend. 

True “community” for any Christian occurs when we work shoulder to shoulder to serve Jesus Christ. All Chrysalis youth and adults who care are encouraged to join Christ’s team in working a Chrysalis walk.  There are several opportunities per year to join a Chrysalis team. It’s a wonderful way to get to know other “butterflies”; to serve the Lord and to experience the walk once again!  

Partial scholarships are available for youth who are unable to afford the cost of working. A Florida Bright Futures scholarship credit letter will be given to any high school student who works a team upon written request to the Chrysalis Lay Director.
