The mission of the Aldersgate Emmaus Board of Directors is to inspire, challenge, and equip people for Christian action and leadership in their churches, homes, places of work and in the world community. We have a very dedicated working Board of Directors who desire to grow spiritually and expand our life in faith following our call to be the "Body of Christ.”
We meet with the express purpose of growing a community in faith and discipleship, trusting that the risen Christ will journey with us. We study scripture, share in discussion groups, pray and meditate individually and collectively. We worship together, including breaking bread in the sacrament of Communion.
In 2016, as your Community Lay Director, I’m excited about our vision to grow and expand Aldersgate Emmaus with more Walks and support the Aldersgate Chrysalis movement in their transition from a Steering Committee into a Board of Directors. This year several of our goals are to improve communications using our website, newsletter and Gathering events to ensure we let everyone know when and where all events are and how to get in touch. We’re committed to transparency and putting Christ first in all that we do. And we plan to continue and expand our successful 4th Day Follow-up sessions following each Walk.
The Gospel of Luke relates the story of two friends walking the road to Emmaus [Luke 24:13-35]. As these friends were sharing their deepest concerns, the risen Christ joined them. He explained Scripture as they walked. He led them in their journey of faith. They finally realized who He was when He broke bread with them. And their hearts were strangely warmed.
De Colores!
