Are you scheduled to attend an upcoming Aldersgate Walk to Emmaus weekend? If so, here are some things to keep in mind:
The Emmaus experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so free yourself mentally as well as spiritually for this weekend. Please check the dates again to make sure you can attend without any conflict. If for some unforeseen reason you are unable to attend, please notify your sponsor and the Registrar immediately.
You will need to bring comfortable, casual clothes. Most of the time will be spent in the conference room, but you may wish to have a sweater available. We will also be traveling between your sleeping area, the conference room, dining hall and chapel, so a lightweight rain jacket and/or umbrella may come in handy. You will need to bring your own toilet articles.
You are asked to bring your own linen, sheets, pillow & pillow case, blanket and towels. Please place these articles in a plastic bag (garbage bag) so they can be labeled and not separated from your luggage.
Since you will be in “retreat” we ask that there be no interruptions, (phone calls, visits, or business matters) during this time. Your sponsor will have the necessary phone numbers in case of an emergency, and will be available to your family in case of any needs.
Your sponsor should make arrangements for your transportation on Thursday evening. We will meet in Leesburg area by 7:00 pm at Camp Horizon in Leesburg, FL. When you arrive, you will be directed to the building for check-in.. Similar arrangements will be made for your Sunday evening return home.
A few other items…
- You will NOT need to worry about bringing your own snacks to the weekend. Trust us, you will NOT go hungry!
- You will NOT need your bathing suit. Regardless of what you may have heard, you will NOT be diving for a cross off the dock!
- If you know of any short, clean, funny jokes, bring them!
